Incident Closure Validation

An independent, read-only review of already-closed Sentinel incidents, analyst-closed or automation-closed, that re-investigates each one to confirm the classification was actually right.

The problem

Closures are trusted but rarely checked. A true positive closed as benign is an active threat that no one is looking at, and automation closes at a scale no one re-reads.

What we do

  • Re-investigate each closed incident, whether an analyst or automation closed it.
  • Catch closures with the wrong disposition in either direction, including true positives wrongly closed as benign.
  • Check whether a missed threat stayed active after the incident was shut.

What it surfaces

From a recent engagement

We re-checked every High and Medium severity incident one estate closed in a single week. Of the 31 an automation had closed as benign, 13 were genuine compromises. Closure validation gives evidence-based assurance that every closure, benign or otherwise, was the right call.
